A C3PAO is a “Certified” Third-Person Audit Organization, commonly understood in the greater compliance community as an accredited source by the Cyber AB, a governing organization set up by the Department of Defense.
It is similar to a 3PAO, which is accredited by Defense Contracting Management Agency, yet carries the certification weight for auditing government contractors for Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification or CMMC.
